Evana-Lopez

Evana López is a medical doctor and doctoral student, presently working as a study physician and coordinator in the CAPSI study in Johan Lundberg's research group at the Department of Clinical Neuroscience, Karolinska Institutet. CAPSI is a randomized placebo controlled double-blind clinical trial conducted at four different regions in Sweden, that investigates the treatment of a single dose of psilocybin in combination with therapy for cancer-related major depressive disorder. Brain structure and functionality before and after randomization is measured using UCB-J, a new radioligand and proxy for synaptic density, in positron emission tomography (PET), together with magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), electroencephalography (EEG) and magnetoencephalography (MEG).

Her research focuses on the clinical effects of psilocybin treatment, such as examining how the psychedelic experience can influence treatment outcome, as well as how treatment outcome may be linked to changes in synaptic density.
